Daydream by Ketevan Mikaberidze

Ketevan Mikaberidze's *Daydream* places model Meiqi Pan against the grey estuary waters of what appears to be the German Rhine, a landscape of tidal flats, weathered concrete, and overcast skies that refuses to romanticize itself. Against this industrial quietude, Pan arrives as something genuinely alien: a lavender sequined slip dress catching every fragment of diffused light, silver knee-high boots planted firmly in wet sand, and a white crochet headpiece trailing like sea foam down her platinum hair. The tension between glamour and austerity is not ironic here. It is sincere, even tender, as though beauty has chosen an unlikely place to simply exist without permission.

Mikaberidze shoots with a film-tinted palette that drains the world of warmth while simultaneously preserving the iridescent shimmer of her subject's dress, a technical and aesthetic decision that keeps Pan luminous without ever allowing the images to tip into fantasy. The photographs move through the location with purpose: beachside mud at low tide, a concrete embankment with residential balconies rising behind it, an empty boat ramp descending toward the water. Each setting frames Pan differently, sometimes monumental, sometimes adrift, but always present. Her gaze shifts between introspection and direct confrontation, never performing ease, never performing distance.

What *Daydream* ultimately offers is a portrait of interiority made visible. The title suggests reverie, but the images carry a quality closer to lucid stillness, a mind fully awake inside a moment that the world around it has not quite caught up to. Pan's physicality anchors every frame with precision, her poses neither editorial reflex nor accident, but something closer to considered restraint. Mikaberidze has produced work that understands the most compelling fashion images are never truly about clothing. They are about a specific person occupying a specific moment of quiet, stubborn self-possession.
