ATOMIC BLONDE by Dominika Wiśniewska

ATOMIC BLONDE arrives like a controlled detonation, photographer Dominika Wiśniewska deconstructing the mythology of feminine fury with surgical precision. Model Pola Sztuk becomes something beyond human across these frames, a creature assembled from equal parts porcelain and voltage, her platinum bob by turns weapon and shroud. Makeup artist Gabriela Łomańska renders the face as pure abstraction: black lacquer lips sealed against a blue void, dark pigment smeared across a screaming mouth, the cosmetic transformed into war paint for a conflict fought entirely within the self. The yellow background of the opening image does not warm but threatens, a radioactive field against which Sztuk's open-mouthed roar lands with the force of a frequency only certain bodies can detect.

The fashion contributions from designers Oliwia Matlak and Marta Kuropatwińska operate as a second language running parallel to the body's own declarations. A sculptural white garment erupts around the figure like a collapsed parachute or an involuntary exhalation, its raw edges and cinched waist suggesting restraint and rupture occurring simultaneously. The blue leather jacket, heavy and structural, transforms the wearer into something architectural rather than dressed. Combat boots ground each silhouette in the terrestrial even as the overall visual logic pushes relentlessly toward the mythological.

The final images fracture the singular into the multiple, two versions of the same figure occupying the same blood-red space, one upright and watchful, one inverted and submerged. This doubling refuses the comfort of reflection and proposes instead a confrontation, the self meeting the self not with recognition but with suspicion. Wiśniewska's lighting throughout the series is consistently dramatic, carving depth from shadow and isolating the figure as both subject and specimen. What emerges across the full arc of this shoot is a portrait of interiority made visible through pure formal daring, a collaboration that trusts its audience to sit with unease and find it beautiful.
